Big Bass Splash

Big Bass Splash is a light, colourful fishing game that you can pick up for two minutes or lose half an hour in. The core loop is simple: cast, wait for a bite, and pull at the right moment. What surprised us is how much rhythm there is to it once you learn how different fish tug at the line.

Controls are all touch and they feel right. A quick tap to cast, a hold-and-release for the reel, and the animation gives you clear feedback so you know when you've mistimed a pull. There's no clutter on screen, which we appreciated on a smaller phone.

It's not a deep strategy title and it doesn't pretend to be. But as a wind-down game it does its job well, with cheerful sound design and locations that change often enough to keep things fresh.
