Big Bass Splash: what it's actually like to play

March 14, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

We didn't expect Big Bass Splash to hold our attention. It's a casual fishing game, and on paper that sounds like something you tap twice and forget. But after a week it kept ending up open during coffee breaks, and that says something.

The whole thing runs on timing. You cast, wait for the line to twitch, and pull at the moment that feels right. Different fish resist differently, so you learn a little rhythm without the game ever explaining it in a wall of text. That quiet learning curve is the best part.

Controls are pure touch and they never got in the way. Casting is a tap, reeling is a hold-and-release, and the animations tell you clearly when you've mistimed it. On a smaller phone we appreciated how uncluttered the screen stays.

If you want depth or long-term strategy, this isn't your game. But as something to unwind with in short bursts, it's well made. Our tip: turn the sound on — the audio feedback actually helps you feel the bite before you see it.
